Microsoft’s SharePoint App for Windows

Sharepoint App

Earlier, Microsoft shared its roadmap for the future of SharePoint, revealing plans to offer, “Simple and powerful file sharing on any device”, and promising to put “the mobile and intelligent intranet” in your pocket. Now, the company has taken an important step towards that more mobile future for custom SharePoint development, with the launch of its new app for Windows 10. The app works with SharePoint Online in Office 365, SharePoint Server 2013 and 2016 on-premises and in hybrid environments. It will also let users easily switch between accounts.

Microsoft has earlier released this Sharepoint app for windows 10 mobile. This app is a content management system software developed by Microsoft. Sharepoint windows 10 is a new way to get into SharePoint online content. With this new app, you can browse the sites, perform the team site activities, lists and people profiles. You can also search for various peoples, contents and sites and mark those sites as favorites. Microsoft released the preview version of this app in the Windows store, which shed the preview tag. This app is able to connect to SharePoint online in Office 365 and not to on-premises versions like Sharepoint 2016 and SharePoint server 2013. Now the reports show that the app is available for downloading even for the Windows 10 PCs and tablets.

With the easy access of the Sharepoint mobile app, the works keep moving forward by providing quick and easy access to your team sites, portals of organization and resources and also gives an idea what the different people you collaborate with are working on. You can view the various site activities, get quick access to recent and popular files, view, and list the team sites. At present, you can’t download the app directly from the store. You will have to first install the app on Windows 10 mobile, and then go to hamburger menu on your Windows 10 PC or tablet, Go to mylibrary. You can download your app there on your Windows 10 or tablets.

What’s new in this version?

— This introduces the team news! The news that you have created on your team sites will be available both on the SharePoint app and on the web.
— It also presents personalized news! Now you can view the news from the sites you work in, the sites you follow and the sites on which your closest colleagues work on.

Now let’s go through the list of features in the Sharepoint windows 10 mobile app:

— Sign in to your SharePoint Online sites. You are able to add multiple accounts, and can easily switch between those accounts.
— Quickly find your team sites. Find out the Sites tab, to see the various sites you visit frequently and the sites you regularly follow. Tap on a team site to dive into it. — Check out recent and popular files. In a team site, get to your recent or popular files quickly to view or share them, and have full access to your document libraries using the new integration with the OneDrive app. Now you can edit your files easily using Microsoft Office Mobile apps like Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and OneNote.
— You can find promoted links for your organization with the links tab. Organized by your SharePoint administrator for all employees; these links get you to the organizational resources and sites that you care about.
