Aufait Making Headlines

When economic recession is gripping the world, the news of job losses, salary cut is all what can be heard everywhere; Aufait is hitting the headlines with good news. Recently IIM Kozhikode and IIM Indore invited Aufait for their campus recruitment for their outgoing batches. Aufait proudly accepted the request and recruited two vibrant marketing professionals from IIMK to join the family of ‘Aufaitians’-Mr. Shamant Rao and Mr. DineshKumar. Thus Aufait made history by becoming the first company from the region to conduct campus recruitment from IIMK and joined the list of multinational companies with millions of turnover in the IIM’s recruiters list. Aufait has already lead other companies by getting first NASSCOM membership from the region.

What makes Aufait different?

Being part of Aufait for the past few years let me try to identify some points that make Aufait to stand out from the rest.

Being Agile

Being agile to adapt with the ever changing scenarios of IT is the highest point of Aufait. Initially Aufait was mainly focused only on Microsoft technologies like ASP, .net etc. for web application development. And was quick to realize that the future is not bright for this and started shifting focus to open source technologies like J2EE, PHP etc. This proved to be correct later.

Custom development of web applications was the only area of focus for Aufait initially. By understanding the changing trends focus was shifted more towards utilizing the complete advantages of popular open source packages and making necessary customizations for them.

Aufait started as a website development company and used to develop a lot of static websites. Keeping in pace with the trends of Web 2.0, Aufait started a new company under its umbrella which focuses only on SEM, Social Media Marketing etc named Greenlemon.

Always in right focus

Identifying the most suitable domain to focus on is definitely a major challenge for a small company like Aufait. By understanding our strength and experience as well as aligning to the industry trends Aufait was able to select the most suitable one. Choosing BPM as the domain in focus was the right decision taken at the right time. Aufait is all set to have a tie up with Intalio- the open source leader in BPM- as business partner for implementing BPM solutions.

GIS being an area where lot of changes is happening recently and it is predicted to change the lives of common people in the coming years. And definitely Aufait chose GIS as it’s another focus area and fairly succeeded in implementing its first solution in the domain. Aufait is looking forward to make further progress in this domain with a handful of projects in pipeline.

Getting Resources

Being its head quarters and main development centre located at Calicut, the main challenge that Aufait was facing is to attract and keep quality professionals with it. People used to laugh at you when you say Calicut as an IT destination. Things are changing now. Lot of initiatives is happening recently to make Calicut as a prime IT destination in India. And Aufait is the front runner in all these activities. It is actively participating in all IT events in Calicut and an active member in all such initiatives like CAFIT and CITI. It succeeded well and proved its capability now by doing the IIMK campus recruitment which will certainly become the biggest morale booster for all. This got good media coverage through popular dailies.

Following Flat Culture

The culture that we follow in our office is one of Aufait’s strong points. Being an Aufaitian for 5 years I can proudly tell that. The freedom that each employee feels in their work needs to be highlighted. All are considered to be equal and everyone’s opinions are given its due importance.  Before making important decisions it is followed as a practice to take everyone’s opinion through email or brain storming sessions. The “No Sir” culture is already became a talking point in many circles.Aufait always makes sure that there is a good work-life balance for all Aufaitians.

Keeping Long Term Accounts

One other strong point of Aufait is that it is able to keep and maintain strong relationship with important accounts in long term.The fact that Aufait is maintaining a good association with a leading Airline from the middle east is an example for this.Started by providing a basic website 5 years ago, Aufait has successfully implemented various solutions to meet their requirements time to time.

To survive in IT industry the most important factor is to update with changes in technology. Aufait always makes sure that all “Aufatians” are “Au-fait” by conducting weekly “Learn Share and Grow” sessions and also by participating training programs/sessions conducted by experts in the industry.
